Seeking Both Sides of the Story

In many cases, the police arrive at the scene, take statements, and assess who they think is the “victim” and who is the “aggressor.”  These assessments are often wrong.

When that happens, you may find yourself charged with a crime despite being the victim or acting in self-defense. Perhaps you used reasonable force to fight off an attacker who called the police first, the victim injured herself, or you may been someplace else. Regardless of the circumstance, you need an attorney who will search for the truth and provide thorough legal representation.

Our Process

When you hire Waite Law Office LLC, we will begin the process of investigating your case through a process called Discovery. We will obtain the police reports, request digital evidence, and review it closely. We will seek out contradictions and flaws to determine if the alleged victim’s story makes sense. We will send you a copy of this evidence so that you, the person who was actually there, can help us assess the evidence.

Next, Attorney Waite will develop a strategy based upon the evidence. If something requires further investigation, we will take appropriate steps to dig deeper. This may include obtaining the victim or police officer’s statements under oath, gathering further evidence through subpoenas, or hiring an expert. If we identify a weakness in the case against you, we will act accordingly. If appropriate, we may file pretrial motions such as a Motion to Suppress unlawfully obtained evidence. If our process leads to the conclusion that a plea agreement is in your best interests, we will advise you accordingly. If trial is appropriate, we will go to battle for you in the courtroom.
